Turn the design into a functional robot through mechanical, electrical, and software integration. This phase includes fabrication, assembly, wiring, and programming — all with careful documentation and iteration.
Mechanical Build
- Fabricate chassis and major subsystems (drive, intake, lift, etc.).
- Assemble components using proper alignment and fasteners.
- Check for frame rigidity, weight balance, and maintenance access.
Electrical Wiring
- Mount Control Hub/Expansion Hub, battery, and switches.
- Route wires neatly, label all connections, and secure with zip ties.
- Verify proper power distribution and communication cables.
Software Integration
- Install and configure SDK, hardware maps, and telemetry.
- Write base op modes (TeleOp and Autonomous).
- Test sensors (IMU, encoders, color, distance) and verify readings.
Subsystem Integration
- Combine all systems and test for mechanical interference.
- Perform static and motion checks for wiring safety.
Documentation
- Record build steps, parts used, and photos in your Engineering Notebook.
